How to Make Sure Your Blog is Ready for Visitors
February 13th, 2012Blogging is an incredibly important part of Internet Marketing, and unfortunately, if you are like most Internet Marketers, you probably had a good run of your blog and then things tapered off and you haven’t been able to get things going again. If that ever happens to you, then you really need to do some troubleshooting to determine that cause. It might have to do with other parts of your design, little details in your sidebars and headlines, etc. Here are some things that you need to take a close look at on a regular basis.
You can do a lot in your sidebars but avoid making them too crowded, but one thing is to list out posts that are popular. People will take notice of that, and they will become curious because they will want to know why the posts are popular. If you make your post headlines optimized for SEO, then you have good anchor text for internal links. Google does know how long people are staying on your site, so that is just one good reason to have rich internal linking. Blog categories really need to be optimized for SEO considerations, and that means they are derived from keyword phrases you want to rank for in the search engines. That is why you need to determine how you plan to get traffic, and not all bloggers are so concerned about search engine traffic. There are several approaches you can take with your blog in terms of SEO and categories. Remember, people like to see what kinds of things you write about, and your categories list is a good place for them to find that information.
Obviously you have social media accounts. You probably have, at the very least, Twitter and Facebook accounts. You might also have accounts on Reddit, LinkedIn, Digg, etc. It’s important that your blog feature links to these accounts in a prominent way.
This helps to encourage your blog readers to follow you on all of those accounts as well. Your readers want a connection with you–as much of one as they can possibly get–and when you don’t make it easy for them to find your social media accounts, they’re going to have a really hard time making that connection. This, then, means that you won’t have as many chances to sell to them as you might like.
A business blog is important to you and it has a lot of components to it which you have to learn. So just remember that content is important, but you need to know how to make it work for you. You need to make good application about what you read, and this is a good place to begin we think.
